Dirk Nowitzki Set to Retire out of Awkward Situation

on

Today’s announcement that the NBA would be honoring the careers of future Hall of Famer’s Dwayne Wade and Dirk Nowitzki by allowing them to play in one final all star game. Wade is still playing well in his #lastdance contributing well off the bench for the Heat and showing up in big games for what he has admitted will be his last season. On the other hand, Nowitzki is averaging 4 points per game but has not announced that this will be his 21st and final season for Dallas. Well, at least not until today.

“Today’s gesture by the NBA was extremely humbling” said Nowitzki politely, though it’s clear that this announcement has thrown a monkey wrench in the German’s plans. Dallas has just acquired his mini-me in Kristaps Porzingis to help create the NBA’s axis of evil alongside Dirk and rookie Luka Doncic. It’s unclear whether Porzingis will return until next season, but Nowitzki clearly wants one more go at it with his fellow Euros.

While Dirk was polite, his agent was sounding off behind closed doors with remarks that could be heard in the locker room. “This is some SCHEISSE! How ze fuck will Dirk be able to return after the NBA pushes him out the door?”. He has a point – returning after this gesture would be like having an enormous going away party only to have your flight delayed for an extra weekend because of weather. Grab your homestretch tickets soon Mavs fans, because Dirk might be done.
