A crowd of neutral bystanders took in two of the NBA’s hottest teams in an annual promotion trying to make Brits give a shit about basketball. The experiment in Mexico, England, and various other countries during preseason games has seen mixed results. This contest, however, could shake up the NBA All Star game.
After scoring 25 points, Emmanuel Mudiay was successfully able to convince apathetic fans that he was the face of the NBA. The highest scorer on a team from New York? Coupled with a constant reminder on the jumbotron to vote your favorite player into the All Star game, Mudiay’s All Star stock skyrocketed to the point where he has overtaken Kemba Walker for second place behind only Dwyane Wade and Kyrie Irving for East guards. Don’t look now – but the English are known for voting on Friday’s. It may be just enough to propel Mudiay into a starting role in Charlotte in a few weeks time. Only time will tell.
